The conservatory [click to enlarge]La Domaine de la Briquerie is situated on the River Vilaine in rural southern Brittany. The Domaine is an historic local landmark comprising a 19th-century hunting lodge, two detached cottages, a pigeonnier and a bread oven. It is surrounded by two acres of grounds which still has traces of the site of an ancient Roman road. A landscaped heated swimming pool was added in 2003 and a hand-built period conservatory was completed in 2004.
Many of La Briquerie’s original 19th-century features remain intact, including an old well which still provides all of La Briquerie’s water. The two cottages have recently been converted into stylish holiday accommodation and furnished with comfortable modern and period furniture - Rose Cottage sleeps up to six people and Vine Cottage sleeps up to five people.036 [click to enlarge]
Vine Cottage : outside dining area [click to enlarge]The old bread oven is adjacent to Vine Cottage and greatly adds to the character of the building - and the round, dry-stone enclosures once used for storing wood and kindling for the oven are still visible in the grounds. The stone-built pigeonnier has recently been home to two nesting kestrels which then kept their five chicks there.
La Briquerie has two acres of flower gardens, specimen trees and lawns. The River Vilaine flows past the property which is in a "protected zone". The whole area is criss-crossed by paths for walkers, cyclists and horse riders, and the scenic route along the River Vilaine passes nearby. La Briquerie offers guests complete peace and tranquillity in a beautiful environment, with stunning panoramic views of the river and the surrounding countryside.The garden : the avenue [click to enlarge]

Fenced children’s garden play area: includes a slide, a Wendy House, a sandpit, swings and a trampoline with a safety net.

Three separate bedrooms in Rose Cottage: each has its own separate entrance door from the landing area. In addition, a new partition wall in the mezzanine bedroom now ensures complete privacy.

Access to 8½ acre fishing lake: sole use of a fishing lake five minutes away - booking in advance essential. Please note that there is a charge to use the lake. Fish caught in 2007 include Tench, Roach, Catfish and a 40lb Carp!
