The garden : looking west [click to enlarge]La Briquerie has two acres of private grounds and mature gardens for guests to explore and relax in. Several benches have been provided and you are welcome to move the garden furniture so that you can eat, drink, sunbathe and snooze in shady or sunny spots throughout the day. In addition, both children and their parents will love the new (from 2008) fenced children’s play area, which is equipped with a slide, a sandpit, swings and a trampoline with a safety net.
La Briquerie has a landscaped, in-ground heated swimming pool (10m x 5m), which has a minimum temperature of 24°C during the summer months. The pool is enclosed by a 1½ metre fence and a self-closing gate, which comply fully with the French pool safety regulations. The garden : flower borders [click to enlarge]Gardening is a great passion for Helene & Michael. The wide variety of flowers, shrubs and trees in the grounds have been selected for their blooms, their colours and their scent. The plants and trees also attract all sorts of wildlife. Nesting in the grounds last year were kestrels, woodpeckers, goldfinches, wrens, doves, swifts, house martins and bats, and in a nearby field were hoopoes and lapwings.
The river also attracts much wildlife, including dragonflies and kingfishers. And at dusk, you might spot the coypu (similar to beavers but with longer tails) swimming and playing on the river banks and in the water. This is also a good time of day to take a dip in the pool, often lit by a spectacular sunset.Beautiful sunsets [click to enlarge]
